IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE FINALISTS

There are three rounds of finalists for the Adult category, and TWO rounds for the high school and primary school categories.

Due to the number of entries, the competition directors have decided to have the following finalist groups:

Adults: Top 50 | Top 25 | Top 15

High School: Top 10 | Top 5

Primary School: Top 20 | Top 10

*Please note: ONLY the FINAL round of finalists are required to send their physical artwork to the Wavepoint Hub for the exhibition and Gala Event taking place on the 27th of September 2025 where the Top three Winners will be announced.

The final round of finalists will receive private communication regarding the logistics of the event within the 1st week of September.

We are hosting a prestigious event to celebrate the Top Finalists of the J-BAC 2025, along with an exhibition of their artwork and a fun-filled night where we will announce the Top Winners! Join us by purchasing your ticket as soon as possible.

  • 1. Creativity and Originality

    Judges look for fresh ideas, unique perspectives, and innovative approaches that set the artwork apart. Originality in concept, style, and execution will be valued over imitation.

  • 2. Technical skill and execution

    Judges assess the artist’s craftsmanship, attention to detail, and overall refinement of the artwork. Consideration is given to elements such as composition, colour balance, and the effective use of light.

  • 3. Interpretation of theme and adhering to the criteria

    Judges evaluate how effectively the artwork reflects the given theme and meets the outlined requirements. Creative yet clear alignment with the theme will be rewarded.

  • 4. Impact and expression

    Judges consider the emotional strength and depth of the artwork. How powerfully does it move or communicate a message? Does it evoke a response and resonate with viewers on a deeper level?

Wavepoint Foundation

Since launching in 2020, Wave Point Foundation has uplifted, impacted, and empowered the lives of people in Jbay through feeding 1000’s during COVID 19, the surf leadership and education program that reaches 70+ young surfers weekly, the food-sustainable garden project, and the outreach to young people who are involved in gangsterism, aims to bring a lasting change to the local community.

Making Dreams Come True in Africa NPC

J-BAC works alongside Making Dreams Come True in Africa NPC, enabling sponsors to receive a tax return on any cash donations that they make towards the prizes of the J-BAC - which is ultimately the vehicle to raise the funds for the Wavepoint Foundation.
