Nothing to Smile About is my take on one of the most celebrated and well-known paintings in the world. The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503 and may have been completed by 1517. Nothing to Smile About places the Mona Lisa in a modern setting. It touches on issues of gender inequality, freedom of speech, and other injustices that affect us all in some way or another.
