Julie-Ann is a professional South African Artist and she has been awarded as a Top 25 Finalist in the ARTi Gallery Art Competition 2023!

About this piece:

I have always been a fan of Vincent van Gogh's artwork, particularly his art style showcased in pieces like Starry Night.

His unique approach to painting with urgency and bold brush strokes added a sense of emotion and movement to his works. It is believed that he often used impasto technique, applying paint straight from the tube, which allowed for the optical mixing of colors on the canvas.

This created the illusion of few colors from afar, but upon closer inspection, revealed a variety of colors and brush strokes. I am grateful for this chance to explore more subjects using this style.

About the Artist:

Jullie-Ann Viljoen Graduated as a Mastery Student from the prestigious Milan Art Institute.

She was born in a charming small town on the banks of the Vaal River and currently resides in Pretoria.

Creating art has always been a great love of hers.

Jullie-Ann says: "with just a pencil & paper I could escape any bad situation by discovering another world where no problems existed.. for that time"

“Discovery” is her passion.

Later in life, she discovered her extreme talent in art and was courageous enough to take the plunge and became an internationally accredited permanent make-up artist.

This path led her to her ultimate dream of becoming a professional fine artist.

Jullie-Ann sees herself as a lifelong learner and she’s motivated by a powerful craving to experience new things. She does this by experimenting and pushing boundaries, creating unique works of art.

Her art is bold; sometimes a risky process, while exploring and incorporating different, unexpected mediums & tools.

She uses energetic colours and stays current with trends.

Her process is all about the joy of discovering and encouraging people to find the overlooked beauty in people and nature.

She is married to her best friend and together they have 2 teenagers. As a family, they love to travel and explore.

Her favorite quote by Vijay Fafat is: "Never mourn the loss of a map. There remains a world to discover."

Jullie-Ann says:  "In the future, I plan to continue to travel with my family & be inspired by nature, open my own studio and publish an art journal to inspire others."
